  1. THE HAG - A black ink and black color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size coquille board. It appears in the book, "WE ARE ALL LEGENDS," by Darrell Schweitzer, published by Donning Starblaze Editions in 1981.

One of the sad and regrettable things about reality is that it has no mercy, with the passage of time, age takes away the beauty of all things before it takes it away completely.

How cruel of nature, to slowly take away a woman's beauty. If asked what is the most beautiful thing created in this universe, the answer has to be, a "woman".

You are probably thinking that because I'm a man, I'm biased. Yes, I am, but that does not mean it's not true! The wonderful thing about most fantasy fiction is that beautiful women don't fade away and die like they do in the real world, "they" and their heroic men get to live happily "ever" after. That means, "forever!" If you are a highly sophisticated person, one who has put away childhood dreams, you will sneer at that thought. But I know that deep down at the bottom of your ego, you dream the same dream.

Anyway, after dealing with the real world day after day, it's good to be able to read a story once in a while that let's me think young again, to believe for just a little while, that a beautiful woman can stay that way forever.

Actually, in my real world there is a woman who's beauty will last forever. She's busy now, mopping the kitchen floor!
